Yesterday morning, for the second non-working Sunday, we set off for a tour of our beautiful Liguria, precisely to the little village of Finalborgo near Finale Ligure. The village is very beautiful, still surrounded by its medieval walls broken only by round turrets; the loveliest thing about the village is the little streets with the old wrought-iron signs of the small shops, which unfortunately no longer exist where we live....there everything has stayed intact, as if time had not passed for the village, as if it were still living in the Middle Ages.
Outside the walls flows the river, with water so clear that you can even see the bottom beneath the ducks swimming; at lunchtime we went to eat in a trattoria hidden in a little alley in the village; they brought us all the typical dishes to taste, obviously everything homemade on the spot in the wood-fired oven.
starters: Various kinds of farinata, savoury rice pies, tomino with chilli and anchovies on a slice of pepper
first courses: borage ravioli and chestnut pasta with pesto
for anyone still hungry, for mains there are fish specialities such as stockfish and squid, and the best thing of all, the desserts: apple cake with chocolate just out of the oven, lemon and pine-nut cake and others!!! all for 19 euros each.
After eating we climbed up to Castel San Giovanni at the top of the hill, where we took quite a few photos, also with little Darietta, who wouldn't stay still for a moment.
Back down, we picked up the car and went to the seafront promenade (buridda) of Finale Ligure, where little Darietta played for a while with a little dog called Lulu on the shore, getting her paws wet; you should have seen how happy she was, running like mad, it was as if she felt nature's call to be in the water.
On the way home I had the loveliest surprise: in Genoa there was a spectacular sunset with crazy colours; below I've put the gallery so you can admire it too, almost as if you were there.!!
