This year, for the ski week we treat ourselves to in January, we chose Livigno... a town set in a whole valley... imagine seeing two big mountains and between the two, in the valley, a town stretching for 3 km that can easily be walked... packed with shops... bear in mind that Livigno is a duty-free zone... so you don't pay VAT... don't worry if you go home with cartons of cigarettes, perfumes, watches and anything else you certainly hadn't planned to buy...! We decided to come here because we had already been 5 or 6 years ago but in summer... in August... let's say to cool down (in the truest sense of the word)... you should know that nearby is the Stelvio glacier, so for ski lovers like me you can ski even in summer... obviously only in the morning because the snow then turns to "mush" and there's a risk of hurting yourself...
but this destination is also worth considering in summer because you ski in the morning and in the afternoon there are lots of sports activities you can do both on the beautiful green valleys where you ski in winter, and on the lake at the bottom of the valley that separates Livigno from Switzerland... or you can also do some dear and sacrosanct shopping... and why not... a visit to St. Moritz... a well-known VIP tourist spot reachable in no time...
