Anyone looking for a holiday immersed in greenery, all about relaxation, combined with taste and art: Umbria is the answer, a region rich in vegetation but also in history, where friendliness is at home. The weekend spent in Umbria was very nice, and thanks to it I rediscovered a region I didn't know could offer so much. I invite all those who haven't done so yet to visit it, because you'd be amazed; besides, the people are very kind and warm-hearted.
We stayed in an excellent hotel (3***) in Assisi, with affordable prices and excellent cuisine. If you go to Umbria you can't not try the fantastic Torta al Testo; you can find it anywhere because it's a typical dish of the region. I can say that compared with other famous cities, Perugia and its surroundings have moderate prices, so even buying a simple souvenir won't cost you as much as Venice or Rome. But if you buy handicrafts like the ceramics, which are very famous in those parts, or find the many shops selling very particular chessboards (especially in Assisi), then yes, prices rise steeply. But there are also many shops selling typical products, such as wine, cheese and cured meats, which are truly excellent.
