Day 11 Aug 2006

We made it.. today we'll reach Numana again to arrive by boat at the most beautiful and indescribable little cove of the riviera: "The Beach of the Due Sorelle" reachable both on foot and by boat.

It takes its name from the 2 rock stacks of the Conero that emerge from the sea and from where it's possible to dive. From here it's one white beach after another, rocks and pebbles, each of which deserves a visit.

The boat is comfortable and full of people, all ready for the adventure to be experienced in a day, backpack on their shoulders, with sandwiches bought at the bar of the little harbor of Numana and beach umbrellas on their shoulders...

and yes.. you have to be prepared.. because the beach of white pebbles accepts neither deck chairs.. nor bars.. nor restrooms.. and still untouched by everything, that's why it's still so beautiful, pure from any extravagance.

We leave at 9:30 with return at 1:00 PM or at 3:00 PM after which the sun makes its last stop behind the Conero.. and goodbye sun..

The day promises to be very interesting.. there's even a speaker who tells the history of Numana until the arrival at the Due Sorelle.

The scenery from the boat is beautiful.. but so is the underwater one, helped by masks, fins, and snorkel... and with our brand-new Sony scuba camera we manage to take beautiful underwater photos.

Various water sports can be practiced in the Riviera del Conero.

Among the classics we find diving: in fact the Conero is considered a true oasis for enthusiasts of the underwater world, since it offers dives that aren't too demanding and very fun, given the shallow depth of the seabed.

The dives that can be done in this area are several, from the Potho Wreck, a cargo ship sunk in the '60s in front of the Due Sorelle beach, to the shallows of the Madonna in front of the little church of Santa Maria di Portonovo, but one of the most interesting is the dive at the Sassi Neri beach, where in autumn you can witness the reproduction of octopuses. Other dives can be done at the Trave rock after the beaches of Portonovo, where you can see lairs of large groupers and a great quantity of microfauna. For those who instead love the surface of the sea and the various breezes, it's advisable to practice windsurfing or kitesurfing.

These sports, increasingly emerging in recent years, in the Riviera del Conero, can be well practiced at the Sassi Neri beach in Sirolo or at the little beaches of Portonovo. In fact every windy day is great here, in the Conero, for lovers of these sports.
