Had we known back then! A little trip of few pretensions between Piana Caruso, a slightly high-altitude holiday resort (at least for the tastes of someone who lives 5 metres above sea level) and Schiavonea, with its very clean sea and grey pebbles, and a quick visit to Metaponto, halfway between the ancient vestiges of the past and the charms of modern holidaymaking. Who knows what Gattuso was doing and whether, together with his friends, he was kicking a ball around... Lovely too the journey along the S.S. 100 first and then the ionic S.S. 106, with the various watchtowers against Saracen invasions and the little rivers along the road; lovely Roseto and its tower; Calabria not very scenic (at the time at least) but rich in nature and history!
