A famous city of art, rich in history and monuments, it is a major cultural and economic hub and a destination for many tourists and students. It is home to one of the oldest universities in the peninsula (founded in 1308), as well as to Italy's largest university for foreign students. It was the ideal destination for the eve and the day of Ferragosto; needless to say, the food is excellent: we tried the Trattoria "DA MARIA L'ARRABBIATA" near the station and, the next day, in the centre, a self-service osteria, "DEL TURRENO", where for a low price you eat truly impeccably! The only downside: the muggy heat that made the climbs up the various little alleys harder. Not to be missed: the Palazzo dei Priori, the National Gallery and an exhibition at a house-museum belonging to the family of Uguccione di Sorbello.
