A one-day trip to the mountains, at La Maielletta (about 1500 metres above sea level). Setting off very early in the morning (around two o'clock) to enjoy the whole morning. After an easy drive along the A14 we climb up the provincial roads, but I don't remember the route very well; the passing years and a bit of sleepiness have made me forget these details, alas! Seeing so much snow was shocking, I had never been to the mountains in winter! The sun nevertheless left a rather tangible mark on my skin (I've never even got a burn like that at the seaside!) It wasn't very easy to learn to walk on the snow, but the sledges were fun, I became a child again! At the LA MAIELLETTA hotel I was able to enjoy a good plate of penne all'arrabbiata and, as soon as I arrived, a fragrant cream croissant and a steaming hot cappuccino.
Early in the afternoon I head back to the city to avoid the heavy traffic and the bitter cold. Certainly a different kind of day....
