A day in the Itria Valley area. Locorotondo and Martina Franca are two completely different realities: one is famous for its splendid old town full of white houses, the other for its Baroque. Castellana is the town of the caves. Piazza Anelli has some not-bad bars and restaurants. I recommend LA GROTTA BIANCA, where you eat a good pizza (at least as long as I was there) and the bar next door, which offers excellent croissants and very good cappuccinos. The caves, needless to say, are spectacular but I didn't take photos, sorry!! The photos, on the other hand, refer to the nice trade-fair event held at the end of July every year in the square in front of the caves. A way to see the cave area come alive even at an unusual time (the fair runs until late evening and on that occasion it's possible to visit the caves by night)
