A day trip between Lecce and Torre dell'Orso, a lovely little seaside town. With eyes, mind and camera busy memorising every detail. It isn't hard to do this route in a single day, because the distance between the two Puglian towns is minimal (about 150 km) and the road to travel, the SS16, is long, wide and free-flowing with no particular problems, helped also by the flat nature of the region. It's true that this way you unfortunately only take in a small part of these places, but we hope to go back sooner or later!!! Of Lecce I remember the amphitheatre, stormed by cats more than by tourists on that quiet day, and Piazza Sant'Oronzo with the column bearing the statue of the saint to whom the people of Lecce are so devoted that they dedicate a whole week of celebrations to him in August. Torre dell'Orso is a clean and elegant spot with a superb sea, like all of Salento, and good gelato.
All in all, go there!!!!
