An Easter-Tide Break in Salento

Our first little trip with my boyfriend, guests of a friend in Lido Marini (LE). We set off after the Easter lunch. It's hot, it almost feels like summer. We travel without haste and in the late afternoon we arrive at Lido Marini, a pleasant spot, very popular in summer. Dinner based on puccia, a kind of focaccia typical of the area. Easter Monday: after a lunch with our friend's relatives and a short nap we go to Santa Maria di Leuca to visit the well-known sanctuary. The day is windy. I take the chance to stop by the Hotel Terminal, where a former schoolmate works. Dinner in a restaurant outside the village, based on linguine with prawns. Anniversary of the Liberation: we take leave of our friend and head for Otranto. It's hot again. The little town is besieged by tourists.

In the square we buy some T-shirts from the animal protection league, then we go to visit the castle and the cathedral, where, among other things, a wedding is being celebrated. A walk through the little streets teeming with tourists, also to buy a few postcards to send to friends and acquaintances, and finally an excellent lunch at a typical place: Il Pirata. A pity that we recently discovered it no longer exists!
