I think there is little point in saying anything about Alberobello; it is famous everywhere, even in Japan. We decided to make this trip starting from Putignano, where we were at the time. On the provincial road it is very easy to reach the town, though it must be said that there is a boundary line between the new town with "normal" houses and the old area characterised by these original buildings about which all sorts of things are said. The warm, sunny late-summer day invites you to stroll. In the little streets and along the lanes there are typical shops selling everything, in particular orecchiette, shawls, taralli and the unmissable miniature trulli. Restaurants and ice-cream parlours abound so everyone can satisfy themselves. Striking is the church made up of various trulli and the famous Sovereign Trullo.
Let's not forget that Alberobello is a UNESCO heritage site, so a visit is well worth it, and you also breathe the good air of the hills...
