This was our first demanding holiday with the girls (aged 5 and 2); our other holidays had always been stays at the seaside or in the mountains with at most a trip in the surroundings during a week of complete relaxation. Actually no, previously we'd been to Rome but we only had one child at the time, aged two and a half, so always in the pushchair and very little fun for her... This time we wanted it to be as pleasant as possible for them too. The excuse was the wedding of a very dear friend of mine, right in Foligno. The B&B was chosen after careful research (I was going out of my mind!!!) looking among the cheapest but with uncommon services and the possibility of using the kitchen both to warm the milk in the evening and to be able to have dinner at home in case we no longer felt like going out after being around all day.

Day 113 Sep 2013

Trasimeno and Perugia

Departure at night from Milan passing through Florence with the idea of arriving at Lake Trasimeno in the morning around 9:00, too bad that highway is cursed and due to an accident shortly after Florence we lost a lot of time and arrived at Lake Trasimeno after 11:00!!! Stopped to stroll along the lakefront, playground and a little ice cream, then, instead of going to Assisi as planned (too demanding a stop), decided to go to Perugia. Parked comfortably at the mini-metro terminal (Pian di Massiano) and took this fantastic driverless mini-tram that in just a few minutes takes you into the city center. Obviously the little girls had a lot of fun, arrival right in the center and a stroll along the main shopping street, the Fontana Maggiore, the Rocca Paolina and behind it a fantastic view of the surroundings.

The little girls had fun playing with the little fountain in the gardens near the Rocca and obviously getting wet, but I always have spare clothes with me so no problem. Having finished the tour as far as allowed after the tiredness of the trip from Milan, we went to the b&b booked before leaving and I cooked so we could go to bed early.
