Cliffs, ocean, bogs, green stretches of rocky mountains: in Ireland nature reveals all its beauty.
Departure from Treviso at 9 pm arrival in Shannon after three hours of flight at 11 pm (-1 time zone) we pick up the car and go to the already booked hotel near the airport. It's raining

Departure in the morning, breakfast in an old bakery in Ennis, we skirt the ocean and the scenery that will accompany us throughout the trip begins to open up. Lunch in a pub and Cliffs of Moher, we cross the Burren, a rocky and lunar area of limestone origin, evening in Galway, a city where we find an atmosphere of great celebration. Half a day of rain.

Breakfast in the B&B and departure for Rossveale to take the ferry to the Aran Islands. Arrival at 11, we rent bikes and leave our backpacks in the B&B, day on the island (Inishmore) lunch in a cottage, visit to Dun Aonghasa fort from the Iron Age right by a beautiful cliff. Evening on the island between a restaurant and a lively pub with live music. Stunning sunny day.

We take the ferry to the Aran at 12 and at 1 pm we are on the island, we return to Galway and then visit the splendid Connemara among lakes, bogs and green expanses, beautiful the Sky Road, evening and dinner at Newport Quay.

Departure from Newport and tour of the wonderful Achill Island with enchanting beach at the end of the Atlantic Road, there's beautiful sun and it's warm despite the wind, we head north, toward Donegal where we will stay overnight. Dead and small village despite being the capital of the county.

We leave around 10, we visit the very high cliffs of Slieve League, the rest of the coast will disappoint us a bit, partly also because of the weather, it rains for a few hours then toward evening it will stop, evening in Letterkenny, a very charming town where we spend a nice evening between live music, Guinness, a guy from London and some of our compatriots met there.

We leave early, we visit the Inishowen peninsula, and enter Northern Ireland, a brief tour of the center of Derry and departure for the Giant's Causeway which we will reach within an hour, Carrick-a-Rede a suspension bridge 25 meters between two cliffs, evening in Belfast with difficulty finding a B&B which we will discover to be more expensive, less nice but above all few, compared to the EIRE.

Departure and breakfast in Belfast, brief tour of the center to see the beautiful City Hall and the murals of the Protestant quarter. Visit to Monasterboice, we try to visit Newgrange but it proves impossible given the requirement to join an organized tour with a guide that started in the late afternoon.....absurd......we head off and go to Dublin, once at the B&B we try to leave the city to go visit Trim Castle, after an hour of traffic jam in the outskirts of the capital we give up and return to the city. A variable day and with missed visits.

Grey sky and Dublin doesn't have that big an effect on me. We visit the gardens and Trinity, a stroll in Temple Bar just to get fleeced by a very expensive dinner, evening in one of the oldest pubs in Dublin.

We get up late, visit St. Patrick's Church and the castle, walk a bit along O'Connell Street and have dinner in a very nice (and honest) pub that's also a brewery. Changeable day.

Departure around 9:30, we head south, visit the beautiful Italian gardens of Powerscourt, then head toward County Wexford, passing by Hook Head, the oldest lighthouse in Europe, and evening in Dunmore East, a pretty little port village (very touristy). Changeable day.

We visit Cobh, the departure port of two million Irish emigrants heading to the USA, as well as the last stop of the Titanic before it faced the fatal Atlantic Ocean. The cathedral is beautiful, so is the center and a statue dedicated to the emigrants. It's raining and the temperature is awful, around two the sun comes out, we drive along the southern part of Cork called West Cork, evening in Couadhal.

Departure early in the morning for Mizen Head, the southernmost point of Ireland, evening in Kenmare.

Tour of the Ring of Kerry and afternoon and evening in Killarney.

Visit to the lakes, the abbey and the Torc Waterfall, lunch in Killarney and departure for Dingle, it rains all day.

Tour of the Peninsula, visit to the Gallarus Oratory, Slea Head and departure for Bunratty, arrival after about two hours, dinner at Dirty Nelly's, the oldest pub in Ireland.

We drive around the castle, have lunch at Durty Nelly's enjoying our last Guinness and then off to the airport, car drop-off, flight at 5 pm and arrival at 9 pm.
