Departure on 14-08 at 9.30, arrival in Mykonos on an Air One flight (charter) at 12.30 (Greek time) and straight off at a run towards the port to catch the last ferry of the day to Naxos... just in time!!! In Naxos, thanks to public transport, we reached the "mikri Vigla", a beautiful hotel right on the beach of the same name. We rented a scooter straight away... Naxos is beautiful!!! It has fabulous, uncrowded beaches and you breathe the air of a real Greece... it feels like being back in our 1950s, time doesn't exist for them... they live very much in the moment. The many tavernas are truly authentic, that is, run by families who let you eat as much as they themselves can produce, and the prices are really low!!! The part of the island to visit is the west, where practically the most beautiful beaches of the Cyclades are.
On the 20th we left Naxos to go to Paros, where we stayed at the "Fragoulis village" right near Parikia, the island's capital. Here there are beautiful beaches but you already begin to see the shadow of globalisation and tourism... beautiful beaches here too, some equipped with beach clubs, and genuinely lovely little villages like Lefkes and Naussa. On the 25th we set off for Mykonos to the "Petasos beach", where we stayed until the end of the holiday... a beautiful island, full of dreamy beaches, many of them fully equipped with both bathing establishments and beach clubs that, from 6 in the evening until 6 in the morning, blast out music at full volume. In the north of the island there are fantastic, very uncrowded beaches with crystal-clear water for those seeking peace and quiet... the little town is beautiful, a real pearl in the Aegean...
with all those real windmills and the pink "pelican" that's a bit the island's mascot... On the 28th we returned to Italy with immense nostalgia... we were so happy there...
for anyone wanting to visit the Cyclades, here's the advice: just book the flight Italy-Mykonos or Santorini and then the ferry tickets are easily found on the spot, and the same goes for hotels or studios... think that at the port you're swamped by people who, catalogue in hand, offer you accommodation... at good prices, more convenient than the catalogues.
