Japanese version of the world championships
2006 is a very important year for football lovers. That's because the World Cup is being held in Germany. At the 2002 Japan-Korea tournament, football fans from all over the world visited Japan. Since Japan is still a country where baseball is major, I was astonished by the enthusiasm of the people of each football-loving country. Brazil's support was also tremendous, perhaps because football is the only thing with which it can appear on the world stage. And Brazil won. I took a 3-week holiday and flew to Munich, Germany, together with my Italian friend Andrea. As a Japanese, I decided to attend the opening match with the Kamikaze style of kendo, one of the martial arts. On the eve of the opening, at Munich's Marienplatz, supporters of the participating countries had gathered, starting with the supporters of the opening match, Germany vs Costa Rica, and Mexico vs England.
I interacted with the supporters of each country, and we took photos of each other and chatted.
