Japanese version of the world championships
I travelled to Berlin from Prague by night bus. Thanks to Andrea, we ended up staying 4 nights at a bargain hostel at 12 euros a night. Unlike Munich, Berlin's centre felt like it was in the midst of redevelopment, and there was a unique atmosphere that made one sense the era of East and West Germany. The former Japanese embassy, which fought against the world during the Great War, was now the embassy compound, but its chrysanthemum crest stood majestic. From the Brandenburg Gate, the west Berlin side had become the venue for the World Cup fan fest. Here too there was a Japan vs Brazil match and I cheered your generation on. But against Brazil, we couldn't win. Andrea seemed to really like Berlin. The day before leaving Berlin, there was a Germany vs Sweden match, and with Germany's victory, Berlin was in great excitement.
