The story

On the internet we manage to find cheap Ryanair flights to Paris, so together with our friends Francesca, Carlo, Paio and Monica we decide to go and celebrate New Year in this splendid city.. We leave from Bergamo and arrive at Beauvais airport, about 85 km from Paris... A coach takes us near Place de Bastille, where our IBIS HOTEL is... The hotel is nice and decidedly close to the centre... As it's the last day of the year we go to eat the famous French meat in a restaurant nearby and then go to greet the new year with a bottle of wine under the EIFFEL TOWER, lit up like day with lots of fireworks... Apart from the cold and perhaps the too many people, it was very exciting... On the morning of the first of January 2004 we wake up in a snowy and freezing Paris.... For anyone wanting to visit the VILLE LUMIERE I'd advise doing it in the warm season....

the cold stops you enjoying anything.. Despite the falling snow we visited: LA SAINTE CHAPELLE, NOTRE DAME, ILE DE LA CITE, HOTEL DE VILLE, THE LOUVRE, AND PLACE CONCORDE... Towards evening we head to SACRE COEUR, always very fascinating.... The next day instead we go to see: VERSAILLES... in the afternoon, crossing the PONT ALEXANDRE II we reach the CHAMPS ELYSEES, where we admire the beautiful Christmas lights and the shops... In the evening we go to the MOULIN ROUGE, which always has its charm... The last day we visit a part of Paris I had never seen: LES INVALIDES-DOME, where Napoleon's tomb is, the OPERA, the PANTHEON and then shopping at FAYETTE, where there's a beautiful Christmas tree...

Paris is always Paris, cold and not cold, snow and no snow....but it's better to go in summer....
