We set off for southern France, Provence and the Camargue. A very green region with many vineyards (about 90 cm tall at most), wheat, and many rice fields, and lavender fields. We passed through Marseille, where we had wanted to stay, but it's too chaotic a city. We stayed in Arles at a Première Classe, a hotel for travellers where you spend little and have the same comforts as others at a higher price. Every day we visited: Aix-en-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence, St-Rémy, Avignon, Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, where we saw pink flamingos, horses and bulls grazing and the gathering of the gypsies that takes place every year at this time, to celebrate their Madonna by carrying her in procession on the Sunday. In Avignon we saw the Palace of the Popes and the Pont d'Avignon over the Rhône. About 20 km from Arles, not to be missed (LE PONT DU GARD).
Another site to see, LES BAUX-DE-PROVENCE, a medieval village, Gordes, Roussillon. Also not to be missed, the Abbaye de Sénanque, which in summer is surrounded by flowering lavender. In France you travel very well, also because there aren't all the trucks we have in Italy; maybe over there freight transport goes by train. On the way back we stopped at Sainte-Maxime, a beautiful little village near St-Tropez. The only regret is that we didn't see the fields of flowering lavender because it blooms later, but we did see new and interesting places, which we hope to see again with more time. I hope my trip is helpful as information, and greetings to you all from Angelo
