The story
A land of perfumes, Grasse is a balcony over the Côte d'Azur. The features of its old town recall those of a Ligurian village. The surroundings are full of villages perched on the hills among fields of lavender and sunflowers. St Paul de Vence is worth a trip on its own. I almost forgot: don't order the rabbit alla cacciatora (where I come from in Tuscany it's exceptional) because it was the worst dish among the many times we've been to France. Excellent, though, are the cured meats, the pâté and the meat the way they cook it!
