A summer in Brittany certainly doesn't mean going to the sea and bathing, but rather losing your gaze on the horizon among the sea, the sky and the clouds, sitting on a grey boulder at the water's edge or standing on pink rocks plunging into the sea. It means watching the sea retreat with feigned shyness and chasing it for tens and tens of metres to discover what the waves might be hiding. It means finding yourself balanced on the edge of a sharp cut between light and shadow, almost as if nature rejected every half-tone to render its intensity. It means strolling among ancient little villages, lovingly cared for, that welcome you lazily while keeping their essence, leaving you the time to enjoy what surrounds you, in a romantic and relaxing atmosphere.
There were eight days of nature, light, beaches, villages, history and eight evenings of little seaside restaurants, walks on the piers, lights reflected in the water and moments to remember. We set off from Mont Saint-Michel (which is still in Normandy) and travelled the coast anticlockwise and along the lighthouse road as far as Quimper. We slept mostly in Chambres d'Hôtes, the equivalent of our B&Bs, in little villages inland, a few kilometres from the tourist areas.
