Discovering the Sami and the great cold
Having left from Milan Malpensa we arrive in Helsinki, on the plane Giuliana assists an elderly lady who has problems with cramps and circulation in her legs, the brief massage is the occasion to make friends with two Finnish girls returning from the Shakira concert. Tatiana and Minna, on arrival at the airport, take us with their car to the hotel.
Plane again, from Helsinki to Ivalo, another 1300 km to cross the Arctic Circle and Father Christmas and arrive in the Lappish part of Finland. The Ivalo airport looks like a natural science museum and is so welcoming that one could spend a vacation day in it. Punctually we find the taxi driver who, after 40 km, drops us at the Inarin Kultahovi. It's about 2:30 PM and we ask if we can have a little something to eat at the restaurant (we're on half board). Not at all caught off guard, they bring us a delicious lunch. Having left the luggage and before it closes (5:00 PM) we go to the Siida museum in Inari. Even the blind would be fascinated, if you close your eyes you hear the sounds and calls of the tundra, I have a mission, to bring my friend Paolo a Sami flag.
I try to ask for one but they don't have it, but after a few phone calls they tell me to go pick it up the next morning in a shop in Inari.
