The story

if you want to know more or see all the photos visit: 28. 08. 2003 Prague (CZECH REP.) Three years later... But a different, better impression! Even if the station remains the notorious dump we all know... [Luca]: Here I've arranged to meet a friend I hadn't seen for seven years! Only those who don't see someone for that long can understand what it means. Prague, for me, is the most beautiful city in Europe even if it's full of tourists; the nice thing is that those bloody Italians come here and to Budapest convinced they're seeing Eastern Europe... and they tell you they've seen it... But the East here is just a distant memory; Belgrade, Sofia, Bucharest... that's what's still East! Better this way, it pleases me to see that there are states like the Czech Republic that are picking themselves up and will be very strong tomorrow! 29. 08.

2003 Salzburg (AUSTRIA) We said goodbye to our mates from Genoa, great travel companions, and meanwhile we are leaving the Czech Republic for Austria. We have two changes during the night ahead of us! Let's hope for the best. We've been in this cold station for about an hour but luckily nobody has bothered us and the overnight train transfer has gone fine so far! We're heading to Ljubljana to find sweet Ana, who is in a small town twenty minutes from the capital for an international Kendo tournament. 30. 08. 2003 Kranj (SLOVENIA) And who would ever have said it? I'm in Slovenia for a girl! That's the beauty of an interrail too... you decide your destinations day by day based on what happens to you during the trip...

We were very worn out after a whole night of travelling and without sleeping, for fear that we'd be robbed again or that we wouldn't get off at the right station for the train change. We arrive at 5.30 in the morning in the Slovenian capital and after endless waiting we learn that because of an International Conference there isn't a hole to sleep in. But, as always happens, unexpectedly, angels fall from the sky to help you and sweet Ana managed to book us a couple of nights where she is staying! In Kranj! A quiet little village in the Julian Alps. Having arrived at the station, the woman at the Tourist Information, to give us a hand, calls us a taxi, but we, as true interrailers, meet a lorry driver who loads us up with all our backpacks and takes us all the way to our "college".

[Luca]: Today is the eighteenth day of the trip and I feel an enormous weight of memories on my shoulders! [ continues on: ]
