Late August sunshine in Murter. The island is connected to the mainland by a short bridge and is an excellent base for the Kornati islands. The gravel and sand beaches are lovely, but the splendid sea, in my opinion, is freezing and I prefer to enjoy the sun. During my stay I visit Split. It is famous above all for Diocletian's Palace (built with the white stone of the island of Brac) and the cathedral with its bell tower, but it is pleasant to wander among the perimeter walls, which today house shops, cafes, restaurants and inhabited buildings, and to discover Venetian corners almost everywhere. Any visitor with a sweet tooth owes it to themselves to enjoy a banana split while sitting on the seafront "Obala Hrvatskog Narodnog Preporoda"
