We escape the muggy heat of my city for a short, cool rest in the direction of Innsbruck. A short stop in Ortisei, where we meet old climbing friends, and lunch in Vipiteno. Once over the border we head straight for Kufstein, where a Best Western awaits us, among meadows and grazing cows. An interesting little town on the Inn, with a lovely old centre. The great mass of holidaymakers is elsewhere (chaos in Kitzbühel), but this was our chosen destination on the placid waters of the Inn. First evening, a boat trip. Dinner in Bavaria at Bayrischzell with a lovely walk through this little village at 850 m altitude. The next day we set off to visit Lake Chiemsee and its Herreninsel with the beautiful castle not to be missed (a shame a coffee costs 3.20 euros!), but it was worth it. A packed lunch on a very green meadow on the lakeshore.
On the way back, the Aschau castle just before the border to re-enter Austria. The day after, the mountains around Kufstein, and then a whole day to revisit Salzburg. Finally, the return to a beautiful but muggy Florence!!
