It's only a few days since I returned from Santo Domingo, and more precisely from Punta Cana, Hotel Veratour Coco Bavaro. The resort is very beautiful, a pity we hit a not very nice week. Sunny in the morning, but almost always cloudy in the afternoon. They told us the rainy season is starting. Very good cuisine, excellent entertainment. In our resort there were also other restaurants, such as the Spanish, Mexican, Japanese, Italian and Thai. We tried the Spanish and the Mexican, but were disappointed. The best cuisine is ours. We did two excursions. On the first we went to Saona island, first by coach and then in very fast speedboats, the sea was just like the Caribbean, with different shades of colour. We saw starfish about 20 cm big, red, beautiful, had lunch on the beach and a swim and then returned to the hotel. On the way back we stopped at a souvenir shop and bought some presents.
We saw how Dominicans keep meat. They dry it outside the shop, since there's no electricity for several hours a day. The second excursion was much more interesting, we did the jeep safari into the forest. We saw sugar cane, cocoa, coffee and other exotic fruit plantations whose names I don't remember. They told us to bring sweets for the children of the Haitian workers (slaves), but if I were to go back I'd bring them food. All in all it was a pleasant week, I forgot to mention that there was a lot of humidity and you couldn't turn off the air conditioning, otherwise drops of water fell from the ceiling. The days flew by and we returned to Italy. Greetings from Angelo
