Finally in the "city of angels"!
We're in Bangkok! India is over and we notice it at every moment. Every little detail makes us realise that Thailand is a world apart compared with the one we've lived in for the last two and a half months.
We're amazed to find toilet paper in the bathroom, to see order and rules everywhere, even to drink a little milk from a clean bottle, to watch road traffic following a code.
"To travel! To lose countries! To be constantly something else so that the soul may have no roots!… To go forward, chasing the absence of having an end and of the anxiety of reaching it". - Fernando Pessoa -

Early in the morning we find ourselves in a queue along the grey wall of the embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. A long wait interspersed with a tedious series of bureaucratic procedures… but necessary…
By boat we reach "Wat Phra Kaeo" along the Chao Phraya, an enchanted place! A series of buildings, temples, pagodas, statues, seasoned with such a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The "Grand Palace", former residence of the king, is closed because it's the sovereign's birthday, a king so loved and venerated by his people… I was very struck by an episode in which Stefy, pointing to a bust, asked a guard: - "Is that the King?" and he, proudly: -"No, he is MY KING".
From there we reach Wat Po; a group of Buddhist monks is preparing for a religious festival to be held the next day. We stop to chat a little with them. They're sweet and curious.
At sunset we reach Wat Tramit and a Chinatown in a ferment, everywhere stalls that roast everything or prepare offal soups, some fruit salads, some noodles… everywhere people cook and eat…
