The story

Can you say I've been to Singapore? Physically, yes, I set foot there. But in reality I wasn't there. Or at least, I was only in the airport, so one day I'd like to go back. Also because the memory I keep of it isn't great. We were travelling to New Zealand, we'd already done 13 hours of flying from Frankfurt, with another 11 to Auckland ahead of us. But on the way out everything is easier. The drama was the return, after a domestic flight in NZ, then the 10 hours from Auckland, then 5 hours waiting on a little sofa there in Singapore, then the 13 hours to Germany. And we still hadn't arrived... So, even though Singapore's airport was new and beautiful, full of flowers, plants, ponds and even fish, I only remember being utterly exhausted. And that the next time I go to Oceania, on the way back it will be worth stopping to sleep there. To rest and also see the city.
