The story

if you want to know more and also see the photos take a look at my site:

20.09.2010 Johannesburg (SOUTH AFRICA)

Jo'burg (for the locals) welcomes us at dawn! Barely time to get an idea of the city and we set off again aboard two vans for Pretoria.

There too, once the equipped truck that will accompany us for the whole trip is loaded: tents, mats, food, backpacks, we set off for the Kruger National Park.

The group is very charged, I like it! We arrive late in the evening, we are exhausted, dirty, starving... putting up the tents without light, tents that are not ours, is really complicated and puts our nerves to the test but we don't lose heart and in a short time we not only set up a good camp but even manage to prepare, thanks to our chef Anna, a plate of saffron rice that we devour savagely!

It is 9.00 pm when I collapse on my sleeping bag... We haven't slept for two days!

21.09.2010 Kruger National Park (SOUTH AFRICA)

At 4.45 someone is already wandering among the tents! Shortly after we are all aboard the truck completely immersed in the atmosphere of our first safari together. Among us there are people who deeply love Africa and who have already had the chance to discover it on previous trips. There are those who tell anecdotes, adventures or explain the characteristics of the many animals we meet along our route...

I try for once to "travel with the heart", to "look with the heart" rather than with the eyes as dear Arianna advised me. It works. For a moment I completely abstracted myself and, closing my eyes, I heard only Nature with its sounds and noises.
