The story

ROOTS OF SENEGAL

A tour, responsible tourism to help local structures emerge. very authentic. A discovery of tradition and customs. An approach to the people and culture. Using traditional and typical structures of the country with tastings of typical Senegalese dishes.

Day 1

Arrival in Dakar, transfer to the hotel Villa Rose or the hotel chez Salim next to the Pink Lake.

Day 2

After breakfast, departure for the Pink Lake, visit of the lake and lunch. Continue to the Lompoul desert. A typical dinner based on couscous, accompanied by drum rhythms, and overnight stay in a Bedouin lodge.

Day 3

Departure after breakfast for Saint Louis, the old capital of Senegal, visit of the city and crossing by pirogue to the Langue de Barbarie. A very typical place lost between the ocean and the Senegal river. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge Ocean e Savan.

Day 4

Breakfast and free morning by the sea. Departure after lunch for Ferlo, in the centre of Senegal, crossing the Wolof villages. Arrival and accommodation at the lodge of Koba, huts in local style, modelled on those of the shepherds, and a cart ride through the villages of the shepherds and nomads. An African dish will be served for dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 5

Departure after breakfast for the city of Touba, visit of the mosque, considered the most beautiful religious monument in all of Africa. Touba, capital of the Murid brotherhood. Muridism has a great influence on the young and on political life in Senegal. Its philosophy is based on work. Lunch in Kaolack and continue to the Saloum delta. Overnight stay and dinner at the lodge of Palmarin or the Niominka delta.

Day 6

Departure after breakfast for Joal, the birthplace of the first president Senghor, visit of the Shell Island and lunch. Continue to Saly, visiting the orphanage of Mbour and handing over 5% of the trip. Overnight stay and dinner in the small and typical hôtel Keur Marakiss or similar.

Day 7

Free morning. Departure after lunch for Dakar. Arrival and crossing by ferry to the island of Gorée, a transit centre for slaves, small but historically great. Visit of the island, dinner and departure according to flight times.
