Day 1 MILAN /DAKAR

Departure from Milan for Dakar - Transfer to the Hotel Novotel 4*. Overnight stay.

Day 2 - DAKAR/GOREE /LAC ROSE/ SAINT LOUIS After breakfast, meeting with the guide and transfer to the port of Dakar for boarding the ferry to the island of Goree (10:00 ferry). Visit of the island, a cultural heritage of humanity and a place of reflection on the meaning of justice and freedom. Return by ferry to Dakar and continue to Lac Rose. Stop for lunch and to observe the pink lake, whose name is due to the pinkish coloration of the waters caused by the presence of particular microorganisms. In the afternoon, continue to the city of Saint Louis. Dinner and overnight at the hotel La Palmeraie 3*.

Day 3 - SAINT LOUIS

After breakfast, continue by boat on the Senegal river to visit the Djoudj park (open from November to April) or the Langue de Barbarie (open from May to October), which are among the main ornithological parks in the world. You will be able to admire, among other species: flamingos, pelicans, fishing eagles, tarabusi, herons, storks, ibises, ducks, snipes, black-winged stilts and various species of birds of prey. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of the Diama area bordering Mauritania and a new agricultural settlement area where once-nomadic populations now reside. Dinner and overnight at hotel. hotel La Palmeraie 3*

Day 4 - SAINT LOUIS/TOUBA/KAOLACK

After breakfast, tour of the city by horse-drawn carriage: through the little streets you will discover its colonial beauty, once capital of Senegal and of all the French colonies of West Africa. Visit of the popular district of Guet Ndar inhabited by fishermen. Lunch at restaurant La Kora and departure for Kaolack with a brief stop at the holy city of Touba, which arose from the desert and today offers one of the most beautiful mosques in Africa, governed by Murid and Marabu, spiritual guides of this community. Arrival in the late afternoon in Kaolack. Dinner and overnight at the hotel del Paris 3*.

Day 5 - KAOLACK / BANJUL

Day 8 - BANJUL

GAMBIA HIGHLIGHTS (see description) Day dedicated to visiting the city, the market, the national museum, the sacred crocodiles of Katcicali and the artisan Batik factories. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the hotel Laico Atlantic 4*.

Day 9 - BANJUL/TOUBACOUTA

After breakfast, transfer to the pier for the ferry crossing of the Gambia river and return to Senegal. Disembarkation and transfer to Toubacouta with a stop for lunch. Afternoon dedicated to meeting the traditional healers of the area and an introduction to the practice of traditional medicine. Dinner and overnight at Paletuviers Lodge 3*.

Day 10 - TOUBACOUTA/DAKAR

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the visit of the village of Joal and Fadiouth, the latter a small islet formed by man through the continuous deposit of shells with which the area is rich; of particular interest is the shell cemetery where Christians and Muslims are buried. Brief stop at the house where the poet Leopold Senghor was born. Lunch in Joal. In the afternoon, visit of Mbour with its craft market and its fish drying racks. Continue to Dakar where hotel rooms will be available for day use. Dinner at the Hotel La Madrague and transfer to the airport. Assistance and departure for Italy. Overnight on board.
