The story

If you want to know more or see all the photos, visit:

27 November Halali (NAMIBIA)

[Stefy]: “After restocking the galley, we head for Etosha National Park… We spend several hours wandering inside the park looking for animals… we see herds of zebras, impalas, wildebeest, oryx, giraffes, gazelles, jackals and even three rhinos…”

Before the sun sets we have already pitched our tents and the whole camp… some prepare dinner, some set up the chairs, some write the diary, some light the fire, some fill the water bottles, some coordinate the next day's itinerary with the drivers… there is great harmony and you can feel it in the air!

28 November Onankali (NAMIBIA)

[Stefy]: “We spend the whole morning roaming Etosha NP aboard our two trucks; we reach the Etosha Pan, a salt depression of 5,000 sq km created 12 million years ago; it reminds me a lot of the Bolivian Salares. The temperature is close to 44° and the heat is truly scorching… we see few animals, in these temperatures they seek shelter as best they can…”

In the late afternoon we begin the long crossing that will take us to the Epupa Falls… The sun is almost setting when we stop at Onankali, a small village in the middle of nowhere, we spot an old sign reading “lodge” but not a trace of any structure, just a small courtyard with 4 mud-walled huts…

We agree on a price with Mrs Pauline and pitch our tents… the lady insists though on pointing out that we can only use one toilet inside the huts... after seeing it we decide to go in the open air!

29 November Epupa Falls (NAMIBIA)

“Now that man has passed the threshold of 2000 and conquered new destinations in space, the dream of visiting new worlds is no longer so remote. But until a holiday on Mars becomes a reality, it is comforting to know that on Earth there are places that offer the same emotions as space exploration. Venture into the unknown: visit Namibia”!

What a great slogan Lonely Planet uses to advertise this place!

It is absolutely right, sometimes you find yourself covering hundreds of km through nothingness and, nowadays, it seems almost impossible that such places still exist in the world.
