4 days of "full immersion" between the cities of Marrakech and Essaouira... backpack on and..off we go!

Day 18 Apr 2008

Day 1

departure at dawn from Milan with Easyjet..around 9.00 (local time) arrival in Marrakech. It had been 8 years since I'd last seen Marrakech and I must admit it has changed enormously! I was very struck by this rapid change and, to be honest, I found it better. Arriving early gives you the whole day for a short visit to the souk and the city's most important monuments. In the afternoon I went to book the Supratours bus that will take me to Essaouira tomorrow morning. I won't go on here about where I ate and slept..there are places for every budget. I'd nevertheless recommend a nice riad..it's worth it!

Day 2: Marrakech-Essaouira

Departure at 8.30 from Marrakech to Essaouira. I made the trip with the Supratours company; the journey lasts about 3h30'. Essaouira is a city in Morocco overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with about 70,000 inhabitants, and it is the capital of the province of the same name. Its beautiful medina is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. I recommend letting yourself go in search of the most hidden corners of this wonderful city..
