The more the days pass the more patient I become! I already feel that this trip will do me good!
We leave Mozambique after crossing its last villages, its last huts, breathing in its red earth, we feel it in our nostrils and it floods our T-shirts... we listen to the last sentences in Portuguese at customs... a short stretch of no man's land and the asphalt begins, the signs are all in English... Big barrier: Stop. A tricolour waves proudly. We are in Malawi.
It is hard to convince the customs officers that, being Italian and not coming from Kenya or Tanzania, we do not need the vaccine against yellow fever... they insist a lot but we don't give in! As if I would let myself be jabbed at an African border!
The background changes completely!
We reach Liwonde N.P. and its hippos but the most important thing for us is that finally there is a shower! After 4-5 days we really needed it! We take the opportunity to wash ourselves and to wash all our dirty laundry, practically the whole backpack! At a certain point I found myself in boxer shorts and flip-flops washing all that I had... even the things I was wearing at that moment!
The night was quite eventful and agitated because of a couple of hippos that entered our camp chased by two rangers!

The fun awakening with the two warthogs grazing a few metres from us!
"My canoe, glides light, on the roaring ways of the great river..." so we used to sing in the SCOUTS "Land of birches" and the river, in our case, is the Shire.
Elephants, crocodiles, hippos, sea eagles and cormorants presented us with their daily life!
"They have very basic things" - the bitter comment of Silvio and Sabrina who in Italy work in a hospital after the introductory tour of the hospital of Mua... I only saw a great many newborn children, many women/girls/mothers... "You are born here and then what do you do?" - I thought sadly to myself...
Later, on the shore of Lake Malawi, chatting with two Koreans who were travelling around the world I daydreamed with my imagination...
My beard is as long as never before and I feel free... Detoxed from the mobile phone, from the internet and from my Iphone, from my computers and from my Ipod... I feel better! Today I even had the chance to connect to the internet and I didn't. I want to keep feeling outside the world, far from other people's lives and continue this journey inside myself.
