After many years of going to Egypt and specifically to the Red Sea, this is the first time I have come across sharks, ferocious ones that attack tourists. They closed the beach for us for 2 days, where the Italian and Russian tourists were furious, unable to swim among the multicoloured fish and corals. They nearly came to blows with the poor lifeguards, who, poor things, were in no way to blame for this. On the Saturday before we left they told us we could swim, and so everyone happily into the water. Because they told us they had caught the shark that had injured the Russian tourists. Instead, on the Sunday, when we were at home, a shark killed a German tourist. They had killed the wrong shark. Then they closed the beaches again. I was very disappointed by all this, also because if we carry on like this, that beautiful warm country near us will be deserted by tourists.
I found the usual many Russian tourists walking on the corals, with the lifeguards whistling, but they didn't hear or pretended not to. The Egyptians catching the beautiful fish to eat them. In the reef I saw that there are far fewer fish than years ago, especially the groupers. I saw fishing at Ras Mohammed, which is a marine park. We complained but they said they need to eat. If we carry on like this, I don't know where we'll end up. I hope I'm wrong.
