The story

This is not just a journey.....it is a life choice, a journey-life choice that is becoming a life chosen by a journey. I write in my book on Simón Bolívar “The journey is more important than the destination...” And so it always is. My journey in the imagination came true, first by studying the life of Simón Bolívar, then by travelling in Colombia but above all in Venezuela in search of traces, of places that are his places. They have become mine too, forever I believe. Now I am perpetually travelling between South America and Italy, in search of happiness, which is sometimes here... sometimes there. I could not give up my own places, those of my Alps, of the mountain people, but at the same time I could never again give up what I have seen and see every time more intensely in Venezuela.

When I am there I stay in a place called Playa Colorada, halfway between Puerto La Cruz and Cumaná, in front of me the Caribbean Sea, the Mochima Marine Park. There I work with a family of Italians in an activity that gives me great satisfaction. We have a company called Divesafary which takes tourists around Venezuela; we organise trips, not in the manner of the big companies but in a much more family-like way, introducing the tourist into local life. And how lovely it is when we go out in the evening to the Tasca together with the tourist, perhaps the only foreigner, who can experience what really happens in the Venezuelan “provinces”, far from the stereotypes you can find in holiday brochures. Ah, of course we don't deny ourselves anything.... the tour in Gran Sabana is almost a must...

in the impossible silences of this mysterious place, with the few words exchanged with the Indians lost in the immensity. Canaima....how could we not go, no cars, only forest and nature and waterfalls and Angel Falls; what a wonder this place is. And the Orinoco delta with the Indians who still live in stilt houses, and the silence of the thousand rivers that are born from the great river....a journey in a curiara... And then Paria, the Cueva del Guácharo and why not? an excursion of one or more days with our boat. We even have a boat, about twelve metres, four berths, air conditioning, in short a little gem that lets us (and lets tourists) fully enjoy the Caribbean Sea, seek out the most hidden nooks to enjoy this wonderful water, and even sleep on this boat. My journey is also my work. Thank you.

Sandro
