Southern Peru and a bit of Bolivia
Milan Zurich New York Miami Lima

Today we arrived in Lima a bit wrecked from the flight (4 flights) but full of adrenaline and ready for a fantastic trip between Peru and Bolivia. The climate in Lima isn't the best, a light drizzle (garua) accompanies us throughout the day which, from what we've gathered, is almost always present. As soon as we set down our suitcases, a tour of the city, a visit to the cathedral and the San Francisco church. In the afternoon a visit to the national museum and then wandering around the pedestrian area and the surrounding zones.

Free morning for Lima which we leave around midday. Along the way we make a short stop in the Barranco district, a characteristic locality of Lima and then away from the big city to go visit our first archaeological site, that of Pachacamac (guide in Italian). Then in the evening we arrive in the city of Pisco where the excursion to the Ballestas Islands has been organized.

Wake-up 6.30 Excellent excursion to the Ballestas Islands. We start by encountering cormorants and gulls. Then during the crossing we spot dolphins, followed by boobies, penguins, sea lions and a myriad of other seabirds. The islands covered in guano have their own charm. At Nazca, thanks to the atmospheric conditions, we will manage to fly and admire the lines and geoglyphs. Extraordinary.

Wake-up at 6 Today a long transfer of about 600 km We made a stop at the Sacaco fossil area and managed to visit the museum where the fossil of a fin whale is present. The rest of the day is travelling and technical stops The first day we spend at altitude, and altitude sickness has not yet made itself felt.
