Easter Island Giuseppe and I land on the mysterious island, coming from Santiago de Chile on a Boeing 767 of Lan Chile. About 4 hours of flight, we're in the middle of the Pacific. Here they don't fear tsunamis; there are no beaches, everyone is on high ground above the sea, and the few inhabitants are safe. It must be said that this Pacific island is not the mythical Polynesian island with lagoons and magnificent beaches, nothing of the sort. The great big heads and the 2 volcanoes are the only 2 attractions. Giuseppe and I rent a car and go round the island, which is shaped like a triangle, with a single petrol station. We sleep in a hostel modelled on a hut, but with all the comforts, that is 2 beds, a bathroom with shower and a roof over our heads. Wandering around the little village we see fishermen loading big tuna onto the pickup to take it to the fish market.
There are many big heads around the island, and after hearing so much about them, here they are, real, in front of me. I probably won't go back to this island, it's not that I liked it that much, but I'm glad I've been there at least once. bye
