In Iguazú nobody could give us precise directions on how to reach Esteros del Iberá. The doubt was whether, with our Chevrolet Corsa, we'd be able to drive the access track to Colonia Pellegrini. The person who reassured us was Mrs Zita, owner of a travel agency in Ituzaingó: if it doesn't rain, the track is passable even with an ordinary car, so let's hope the weather holds during the night! We set off at seven in the morning; after 30 km towards Pousadas, we turn right onto the track to Esteros del Iberá. The track isn't bad, but after about fifty km we start to see pools of water at the sides of the road, which gradually increase and at times cover the carriageway — it must have rained the previous day. A few slightly deeper puddles put our “Corsa” to the test, but we manage to ford them without too much damage. All along the route, a myriad of birds take flight.
Finally at Colonia Pellegrini, a true wildlife paradise still little known and practically off the main tourist routes. Boat and on-foot excursions in a very special atmosphere.
