Truk, Micronesia The Continental flight arriving from Guam takes us to Truk. The hostesses tell us that anyone who wants to get off the Boeing 737-800 to stretch their legs may do so; Giuseppe prefers to stay on board. I get off. Down the steps I head for the transit area; the temperature is hot and humid, as always happens in these tropical places. I immediately notice that the gravel is not made of stones but of coral; indeed the island has a lot of coral reef around it, and evidently they have brought some here to the airport too. I go inside the waiting room where there is air conditioning and keep watching the plane, which only on occasions like these at small airports can you stand so close to; in big-city airports you enter through the telescopic jet bridge, and you don't even see the plane. I take a few photos; the sign still has the old name of the island, that is Chuuk.
Then all those who were getting off the plane and had arrived had finished, so we boarded again, a short but intense visit to Truk. bye
