Guam by Daniele Somenzi with Giuseppe, 2nd time The landing at Agana, on the island of Guam, unfortunately happens in the dark. The Boeing 737 of Continental coming from Koror drops us off late, so Giuseppe and I take a taxi that takes us to a nearby motel, where we sleep two nights. The next day we rent a car and drive around the island; I take him to see Pirates Bay, where I had been when I came the first time with Vanni, and here we play cards and Giuseppe gets himself a hermit crab shell by evicting the tenant. We also visit the place where the Americans landed during the Second World War, ousting the Japanese aggressor; there are real torpedoes on display too. My goodness, what long torpedoes, now I understand why one of those could sink a ship. We also visit a cemetery with the gravestones laid flat on the ground, in a beautiful garden with a sea view.
Then we spend the afternoon on the beach of Tumon Bay in front of a 5-star hotel, and we enjoy the American fighter jets landing at the nearby military airport. The following morning we have the ANA flight to Japan. bye
