French Polynesia, the first time Michela and I arrive on the UTA flight from Auckland, New Zealand. It's evening and very humid. Outside the airport some people are advertising bed and breakfasts, and we take one at random. Then they load us onto a pickup and drop us in a place where they give us 2 mattresses in a room with other people, not a very welcoming place. In fact the next morning we check out immediately and go to the airport to rent a car, with which we tour the island of Tahiti, very beautiful and full of greenery and little waterfalls inland. Papeete isn't very nice, here everything is expensive like in New Caledonia, and we decide to sleep in the car the second night rather than in a place like before. Moorea can be seen very clearly, and I think the best islands are, in any case, the others; this one is just the gateway to them.
In fact almost everyone then boards cruise ships or small planes that take them to Bora Bora and so on. The UTA flight, a DC 10, then takes us to Los Angeles. Bye bye Polynesia.
