Australia Nov 2009 This is the eighteenth time I go to Australia; I hope to get tired of it one day, I hope that next time I'll get tired of Australia, because otherwise I'll be forced to go back dozens more times before I drop dead, and the ticket costs. This time, though, on the way out I spent only 140 euros in taxes. I flew a Boeing 747 from Rome to Seoul, and continued to Brisbane, so obviously I flew with Korean Air, an excellent airline. While on the way back I paid about 600 euros one way, but money well spent, since for the first time in my life I was able to fly on the enormous Airbus 389 of Singapore Airlines. Setting off from Melbourne to Singapore, a real treat: 2 decks of passengers connected by 2 big staircases; I even visited first class, and it's made up of real compartments with curtains and a bed.
As soon as I arrived in Brisbane, I got on the train to reach the city centre, where I then continued to the Greyhound bus station and in 2 hours I reached the town of Toowoomba, and here in the evening I got a night lift on the truck of my friend Mark, who took me as far as Charleville. During the 600 km night crossing we unfortunately killed 2 kangaroos. Those rascals throw themselves under the wheels; it seems they do it on purpose.
