The story

Australia by Campervan with Cristina. We rent the 2 Britz campervans in Cairns; there are 5 of us, all having arrived from Italy with Singapore Airlines. We set off south but first we head west, and here the landscapes start to change from intense green to sparse.. a visit to a lake and the wind farms. Towards evening we have to stop because of a river that's too high. So we camp even though the insects torment us. But the next day, after sleeping in the 2 campervans, we wake up and the scents of eucalyptus and animals bid us good morning. Little by little, day after day, we get closer to Melbourne, spending splendid days full of new things. We were never bored; we even happened, by chance, to enter the pub where they filmed the scenes of the Crocodile Dundee films in McKinlay. The flies attacked us and the trucks on the road are the longest in the world.

They carry coal from the mine to the train station. 56 metres long. At Charleville we meet Mark, a likeable Australian who invites us to sleep in his garden; the man of a thousand jobs has also become the mayor of the small Queensland town. From there on there are lots of kangaroos at the roadside. We arrive in Melbourne and hand back the campervans; a great trip, it will go down in Daniele Somenzi's annals
