TRANSPORT
Absolutely to be done by rental car. With a crew of 6 people we could afford a splendid Buick Park Avenue. The Greyhound is also an unmissable experience.
In detail: The airline: Alitalia - Nothing to say. The bus: Greyhound - A legend with an authoritarian but impeccable big lady at the wheel. Helicopter: A little flight over New York is not to be missed (the cheapest ride at the time cost 90,000 L) Car: I would never have thought I could afford a Buick Park Avenue. Simply extraordinary.
ACCOMMODATION
New York: Holliday Inn - a few cockroaches (there must be a reason they call it Roach City...) On the transfers: Motels Palm Beach: Motel with pool
CLIMATE: Magnificent.
WHY GO
- For NY, which alone is worth the price of the ticket - To fly over NY by helicopter - For the on-the-road journey - For the delis in NY (you eat wonderfully and pay by weight)
SUMMARY VERDICT
New York: 5/5 To see: everything. You leave and there would still be so much to see. It's the classic place where you always promise yourself you'll go back. Washington: 3/5. To see: the Capitol, the White House, the Washington Monument and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
