The story

At last I'm going to America. After so many dreams, in September 2005 I finally managed to go there with my wife. Three and a half years have passed and I still feel nostalgic, I'd go back right now. From Italy I only booked the motel in San Francisco and the rental car. Flight bought at a travel agency: arrival in San Francisco, return from Los Angeles. Route solo on the road: San Francisco, Yosemite, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Horseshoe bend, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Los Angeles. All beautiful, unique places, completely different from one another. San Francisco: sightseeing by public transport. Better to get a motel there and in the centre because the outskirts are an eyesore and the suburbs are full of shady characters. On 4/09 we picked up the car and the real on-the-road journey through America's highways began.

All the parks are beautiful and deserve to be seen. Yosemite: mountain scenery but with lots of squirrels to keep you company. The giant sequoias are worth it. Death Valley: a lunar and incredible landscape with unimaginable heat. Las Vegas: very hot, everything big and immaculately kept. Zion, Bryce Canyon, Horseshoe bend, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon: words aren't enough, you have to go there. Los Angeles: an iconic metropolis with its iconic beaches. We arrived on the 16th, we took advantage of the car to go to Malibu and in the evening we returned the car. To get around the city, plenty of metro and bus with a travel pass.

Sleeping: many reasonably priced motels along the roads. We had more trouble finding a motel near Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon (where we slept inside the park). Eating: for those who want to spend little, plenty of fast food. Regrets: it would take more days with an extension to Hawaii...., Antelope Canyon and an excursion down into the Grand Canyon. TOTALLY FANTASTIC!!! GO THERE.
