flight Air One CA-RM, Lufthansa RM-Munich, Lufthansa Munich-NY. the airport wasn't the main one, i.e. JFK, but Newark, which is a town near New York; arrival in downtown NY in 40 minutes, by bus booked from Italy. hotel Belvedere on 48th street, at the corner with 7th ave, very central, 5 min on foot from Times Square. needless to say, as soon as you arrive you're in shock for a few dozen minutes, immersed among taxis, rivers of people, skyscrapers, music, colours. I recommend everyone do the tour on the open-top double-decker bus to get a general idea of the place, then on the following days you wander on foot calmly discovering the city that obviously you'll never finish getting to know, it's fantastic!! it's true that everything is big, starting from the cappuccino for breakfast (a half-litre polystyrene cup, with a straw), to clothing in super extralarge sizes...
I recommend booking the ferry trip to the Statue of Liberty from Italy too, because you might not find space at the last minute. obviously don't miss the Brooklyn Bridge!
