And now... in the Florida sunshine.
After spending a week between New York and Canada, our tour continued towards warm Florida.
Arriving on a direct flight from Toronto, in 4 hours we reached Miami.
Off the plane, we immediately put our coats away in the suitcase and changed into “beach” attire... and straight away on the road, bound for Orlando.
The journey in our hire car, a splendid four-door Pontiac Grand Prix, was stupendous; on board, me and Vale on the American roads, a dream come true...
In Orlando we stayed two days, the first to visit Disney World and the second devoted to Universal Studios.
The second day was definitely more exciting, when we can't forget the Mummy ride, Twister and Everest Mountain.
Disney World, on the other hand, is much more suited to children, and besides, if you intend to go, remember that one day is too little to visit this enormous park.
Having left Orlando, we headed to Jacksonville, where my uncle Vincenzo lives.
Our meeting was truly emotional. Here we also met Silvana, a neighbour and also Italian-American.
All four of us had breakfast together in the morning in a typical American place, then we headed to St. Augustine, where on board a little train we toured this old American town.
For lunch we went to a typical Italian restaurant where we could eat spaghetti and chicken breasts with a slightly strange taste...
In the afternoon our trip continued towards Miami; so we said goodbye to uncle Vincenzo and Silvana, hoping to come back and visit them again.
In Miami we spent two or three days; we were fine here but the first impression wasn't the best, in fact in the city, especially at night, there are people around who aren't very reassuring, so we limited ourselves to going to the beach and visiting the legendary Ocean Drive.
From Miami, on the morning of... we set off for the fantastic Everglades park, where we admired crocodiles and other strange animals. And here a ride on the air boat obviously couldn't be missed, a “unique” experience that I recommend to everyone.
We spent our last American days at Key Island, certainly an enchanted place, which deserves a very careful visit.
The holiday is over; for us it was all truly beautiful, we can't wait to go back to the fantastic United States of America.
Greetings from the travellers Claudio and Vale. United States of America (18 APRIL - 24 APRIL 2008)
