Back to Las Vegas: this time Davide too can tread the city of make-believe and dream a little, amid entertainment, shows and architecture bordering on the impossible.
Day 15 Sep 2007
We return the car at the airport and then head to the Excalibur hotel (€60 on Expedia), where we'll stay 3 nights to recover from the exhaustion of the trip and to let little Davide rest and have some fun, as a well-deserved reward for the kilometers endured in the car and the many long walks he did without ever complaining. In the evening we take a stroll to the New York and MGM hotels.

Day 26 Sep 2007
A day of relaxation by the pool, under the scorching Las Vegas sun and its 40 degrees. In the late afternoon we take the Deuce bus that runs along the Strip, an insane bus that stops for 10 minutes at every stop. Basically, to cover 2 km it takes us half an hour. We go exploring some mega-themed hotels that are truly astonishing and that we hadn't had time to see the last time we were here. We start with Caesars Palace, in ancient Greek-Roman style, truly luxurious and meticulously detailed, complete with a giant Trojan horse, imposing fountains and avenues that recreate ancient Rome, complete with an artificial sky. We see the evocative Atlantis show, with statues rising from the water and spectacular fire effects. Next to it is the Bellagio, with its enchanting dancing fountain shows, truly not to be missed. Every 15 minutes a different show begins.
For dinner we rediscover the feast at the mega all-you-can-eat buffets; we opt for the Tropicana and are really pleased, both in quality and price; moreover it's decidedly less crowded than the more famous ones (buffet at $15).

Day 37 Sep 2007
Another day of relaxation and the usual evening exploring the mega-hotels. With the super-modern and completely automated monorail we go to the Luxor, then with the usual insane bus we reach the Venetian area. Nothing new, just to show everything to Davide, who walks around with his mouth wide open! We reach Treasure Island just a few minutes before the start of one of the most spectacular free shows in the city, the one with pirates against the sirens. We manage to carve out a privileged spot among the human crush and witness the classic triumphant explosion of fire, dancing and sensuality in perfect Las Vegas style, truly incredible. We finish with the Mirage, the tropical forest in the lobby and the volcano that erupts in the garden.
