United Arab Emirates, the first time I land in Dubai in 1986. I fly with a company that has just been born, it is called Emirates. today it is the best in the world. I come from Belgrade aboard a JAT DC 10. As soon as I get off, the customs people seize my camera, the first I ever owned; then after some back and forth they gave it back to me, they said I had filmed the customs area. Hmm. The airport was old, the current one is one of the most beautiful in the world. Inside, the air conditioning is pleasant, but when I sample the outside air, 40 degrees at least, it's a slap in the face; thank goodness I only felt it for a few minutes, and precisely in the jet bridge while I was getting back on the plane. Indeed, in Dubai we stopped for a technical stopover; I was on my way to Singapore (for the first time) and then Melbourne in Australia.
During the landing, I was able to notice how much desert there is in the United Arab Emirates, and practically zero vegetation. bye
