costa cruise with a 2-year-old girl in tow. Very positive opinion on the Costa services, up to their cost (not exactly cheap). The cruise solution is convenient for those with small children, you are sheltered for any eventuality, medical ones too, there is food and staff available 24h/24, and in this case we had enough time to disembark comfortably because the ship stayed still all day and only travelled at night. We could not visit Bahrain because of the unrest linked to the Arab Spring, so we had an extra day in Dubai.
If I repeated the experience I would certainly choose not to join the Costa excursions, not because I did not like them but because they are expensive and unnecessary; with a small child I was afraid to go ashore alone, whereas I understood that safety in these countries is much more guaranteed than in Italy, that there are no problems with transport (when the ship arrives, taxis and guides flock to the port exit ready to take tourists anywhere), that with my Lonely Planet I would have saved and seen only what interested me and could have lingered at will in the most beautiful places. Of course, I would have lost a bit of time in organising everything, but as on all trips the pre-packaged package never satisfies 100%. I was afraid to take a risk and did not get the most, but it was still an excellent trip, which I feel I can recommend.
The cruise we took is called "Le mille e una notte" with Costa Luminosa.
